This October Home-Start Wandsworth are celebrating Black History Month. The campaign slogan this year is ‘Proud to Be….’ We would love for you to join us in celebrating and honouring the too-often unheralded accomplishments of Black Britons in every area of endeavour throughout our history. All through October we will be hosting a number of events that celebrate the achievements and contributions of black people. See below.
Lets get creative to celebrate Black History Month.
Shall we all try to create a piece of art in any medium to celebrate what makes you PROUD TO BE. A drawing, photo, collage, poem, painting? This is open to adults as well as children and no limit to how many entries you can send in. We would love to share your work on social media.

Meet Kamapala Chukwuka – Tuesday 12th October 8.30-9.30 on Zoom.
We are delighted to share an evening with Kamapala Chukwuka on Zoom.
Meet local mum who saw a lack of representation in children’s books and decided to do something about it.
Kamapala is an author and entrepreneur. She will be sharing her story of why and how she went about publishing her children’s books and how she is helping other diverse authors bring their stories to life through her publishing services.
Come hear her story and be inspired.

Come join me for a Storytime on Zoom to celebrate the work of Amanda Gorman, American poet and activist. Change Sings is her new children’s book which has just been published 30/10/2021.
