How we help

Here for parents when they need us most

Being a parent has never been easy and all parents struggle at one time or another. However, for some the challenges can be even greater. That is why we are committed to delivering a family-centred service which contributes to the wellbeing of parents, children and the wider family and community system.

We believe every child has the right to the best possible start in life and through our core home-visiting service and group activities we are able to provide impartial and confidential practical and emotional support to families.

We help families, living in Wandsworth, with children under the age of five, through their most challenging times. Please read our Parent support leaflet to see how we help families.

When a family is referred to us, one of our Home-Start coordinators works with them to assess their level of need and then carefully matches them to a volunteer who can offer them ongoing, non-judgemental, compassionate support.

Our network of volunteers receive expert training and support from our dedicated staff team to ensure that they are equipped to help families through their most challenging times.

To speak to a coordinator, please get in touch via our contact form or email.

The difference we have made

Our impact

Our 2020/2021 Impact report shines a light on the devastating impact that the pandemic has had on vulnerable families and the vital role that Home-Start Wandsworth has played in supporting these families to avoid crisis.

Through individual volunteer support and a range of group activities, we help families feel less isolated and more socially connected. With our help and support parents and children regain quality time with each other, and the wellbeing of the whole family improves.

HOME-START LONDON

Home-Start Wandsworth is a member of the Home-Start London consortium, which is made up of 13 Home-Start schemes reaching as far as Barnet in the north to Sutton in the south and Redbridge in the east to Hillingdon in the west. Together the consortium members create a larger footprint than they would individually to have a greater impact across London.
