Could you spare 2-4 hours a week to support a local family and make a difference that could last a lifetime?
We are looking for people to join Home-Start Wandsworth’s amazing network of volunteers supporting families with under-5s across the borough through home-visiting and group activities.
You would support families who are finding it difficult to cope, and provide them with emotional support, practical help and friendship. All you need are empathy, enthusiasm and reliability. Find out more about becoming a Home-Start volunteer.
We serve a diverse range of families and value diversity among our volunteers. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and with varied life experience.
People choose to volunteer for Home-Start Wandsworth for a variety of reasons. For many, it offers the chance to give something back or make a difference to a local family. For others it provides an opportunity to develop new skills or build on existing experience and knowledge.
Next volunteer preparation course runs Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 June – 8 July 2021.
It will be a blended course involving some face to face sessions on Thursdays and some sessions on Zoom on Tuesdays. The face to face training will take place in our offices at the Battersea Mission, 20-22 York Road, London SW11 3QA, and we will of course be following all up to date social distancing and covid guidelines.
Our training programme helps prepare volunteers to support families, covering a range of topics including coaching, mental health awareness, boundaries and signposting. After recently completing the course, volunteers said “The prep course is excellent, very informative and reassuring about my role as a volunteer” “…professional, interesting, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it.”
