Duchess of Cambridge meets Home-Start Wandsworth families

The Duchess of Cambridge this week met with two of our families to listen to their experiences of how Home-Start Wandsworth has supported them, before and during lockdown.

Irma, who has a 21 month old son said, “I feel she genuinely cares and sees the importance of charities like Home-Start. I feel she understood some of the challenges and could relate from one mother to another.”

Carol added “She is very down to earth. She was extremely kind which made me feel very relaxed. The whole experience was amazing and I am just so glad that I could do something for Home-Start. I feel that she is genuinely trying to do more for mothers and children.”

Our Scheme Manager, Laura added, “It’s wonderful to see families step out of their comfort zone and be part of an event like this. It’s a sign of how far they have come, to have the self-confidence to share their story, and understand for themselves that their story is worth telling.”

We are so immensely proud of Irma and Carol for so eloquently and openly sharing their personal stories and championing the work that we do supporting families.
