Home-Start volunteers, like Alison, are here to support families through their most difficult times. They offer no judgement, just compassionate, confidential help and support tailored to the individual needs of the family. By providing practical and emotional support, our volunteers help parents build vital connections with their children and encourage a supportive, nurturing home environment in which children can thrive.
Would you like to volunteer with us?
If you have parental or any other experience with young children and can spare 2-4 hours every week to visit a family in their home, then we would love to hear from you. You don’t need qualifications – all you need is a willingness to help, empathy, enthusiasm, reliability and a little time.
We serve a wide range of families and value diversity among our volunteers. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and with varied life experience.
As a Home-Start volunteer, you will be given all the training and support to be effective and make a real difference to families in your community. Our on-going training programme helps prepare you to support families in their home, covering a range of topics including mental health, child development, boundaries and safeguarding.
Applications for our Autumn training course are now open. Course dates: Every Thursday starting 12 September – 7 November 2024 (no training on Thursday 31 October).
