Salary – £24,000 per year
Permanent, Part-time, 21 – 24 hours per week (up to 24 hours at busy periods)

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a confident and organised professional, with the initiative to structure and intuitively adapt their strong administrative skill, towards the developing needs of Home-Start Wandsworth and its teams.

This exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of Home-Start Wandsworth and develop your expertise within the charity and family sector. We require an innovative and flexible part time Business Administrator to support our work with families in need with young children in Wandsworth.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Acting as a first point of contact within this central role, you’ll work alongside our teams of staff, trustees, and volunteers to deliver high quality services to families seeking our support. You will provide administrative and clerical assistance across a broad range of established functions and work with third party providers to manage billing, contracts, and licences.

With excellent attention to detail, you’ll be IT competent with the ability to use CRM’s and accounting systems.  You’ll have a strong ability to produce comprehensive and clear reports and ideally, you’ll have some experience of organising systems, meetings, and recording minutes.

Alongside general administration, key elements of the role include:

  • Monitoring & disseminating incoming and outgoing communication
  • Invoice tracking & accounting reconciliation
  • Stock and equipment inventories, purchase, & tracking
  • DBS tracking & processing
  • Processing incoming family referrals
  • Tracking & disseminating data to teams
  • Support for staff & volunteer training & recruitment processes
  • Supporting organisation and activities for charity events

In addition, you may:

  • Support community events and outreach projects
  • Support volunteer & donor activities

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

We’d like you to have strong awareness of GDPR and confidentiality, and a good awareness of health & safety, risk, and safeguarding principals with a commitment to working within the aims, principles, and policies of Home-Start Wandsworth. You will also have a strong affinity with the purpose and goals of the charity.

Home-Start is a community-oriented service and so you’ll also communicate frequently with other charitable and statutory agencies. Previous knowledge of the voluntary and / or statutory sector in a relevant context would be an advantage.

Alongside administrative tasks, the role also provides the opportunity to get involved with day-to-day support activities and would be ideal for an individual who enjoys working with families and enjoys some variety in their daily activity.  We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • An interest in the needs of children and families
  • Knowledge of safeguarding issues and a commitment to good practice in safeguarding
  • An understanding of confidentiality in a support setting
  • Knowledge of the roles of agencies providing services for children and families
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • An ability to use technical platforms for recording data
  • A positive and creative approach to tackling tasks
  • Knowledge of and commitment to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice

Training will be provided but it would be great if you already:

  • Have relevant professional training
  • Have experience of work in the voluntary sector or as a volunteer
  • Knowledge of board processes

  • Eligible to work in the UK
  • Able to work flexibly occasionally, including some evening or week-end work potentially away from home
