Home-Start needs your help to respond to the Coronavirus outbreak

In an open letter, Peter Grigg, CEO of Home-Start UK has outlined why Home-Start needs support in response to the Coronavirus outbreak.

For us here at Home-Start Wandsworth, we remain as committed as ever to supporting families during these difficult times. The practical and emotional demands of parenthood are challenging enough in normal times but the current pandemic adds so many additional layers of anxiety, uncertainty and isolation.

We are seeing social distancing and isolation placing enormous strain on families, especially those already suffering with poor mental health, physical illness and financial hardship.

We are adapting as quickly as we can to the ever changing situation and the needs of our families. We have moved our support services on-line to ensure we remain connected to our families, volunteers and staff. Telephone support is being offered to families and essential food, medical and baby supplies delivered to those who need them.

In the coming weeks and months, we will work harder than ever to find ways to make sure families continue to have the support they need. As we emerge from the current crisis, Home-Start volunteers will play a key part in the wider effort needed to bring families and communities together again.

Like many others, one of our biggest challenges will be securing the income we need to continue this vital work. We can’t do it alone. We need your help. Donating money is a simple and effective way to help us support more families. Every pound donated goes straight to helping families in need.
