More than 300 people were in the audience for our annual Carol Service in December at the beautiful Grade II* listed St Anne’s Church in Wandsworth. The award-winning semi-professional Epiphoni Consort chamber choir wowed the congregation with their exquisite singing of pieces including Past Three O’Clock, Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day and White Christmas, while Eclipse choir and children from St Anne’s Primary School delighted the audience with their renditions of The Seal Lullaby and Do You Hear What I Hear? among others.
The audience enjoyed beautiful and sometimes humorous readings from celebrity guests including actor Samuel West, journalist and broadcaster Bryony Gordon, and broadcaster and musician Sir Richard Stilgoe. Local mum and writer, Emma Campbell, who received Home-Start Wandsworth support when she was a single parent of four (including baby triplets) and receiving treatment for cancer, also gave a reading. Another Home-Start Wandsworth beneficiary gave a moving account of the life-changing support she received from Home-Start Wandsworth after she broke her back during labour and faced an uncertain future.
