Home-Start Wandsworth is a fantastic registered charity that supports families with at least one child under the age of five. We provide practical and emotional support for families in their homes through our network of trained volunteers.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
This exciting opportunity has arisen for the managerial lead of Home-Start Wandsworth. The position is responsible for managing a team of 8 excellent staff and more than 70 volunteers who want to make a difference in line with our mission statement and values; managing projects and bid applications; and collaborating with the supportive Trustee Board on the development and implementation of our organisational and fundraising strategies.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Are you driven and enthusiastic? Are you empathetic? Do you have the ability to engage with people and develop relationships at all levels? Do you have a strong affinity with the purpose and goals of Home-Start Wandsworth? If so, we would love to hear from you if:
– you have experience of leading and motivating a team,
– you are experienced at managing and delivering projects, ensuring that targets are met
– you have excellent organisational skills
– you are able to prepare, present and analyse statistical information.
– you are confident submitting funding applications and managing budgets.
– you are ideally familiar with the charity/ voluntary sector

Home-Start Wandsworth – Volunteer Development Officer
Part-time, Fixed term for 12 months
16 hours per week (worked over 3 days)
Salary: £26,000 pro rata (including London Weighting)
Location: The role will be at least partly office based (SW11)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To be responsible for volunteer engagement and retention with a particular emphasis on promoting diversity and inclusion. As well as supporting the organisation with the recruitment of volunteers for the prep course. This role is a fixed term position.
PERSON SPECIFICATION

- Relevant experience of volunteer engagement, recruitment and/or management.
- Understanding of the voluntary sector and good practice surrounding volunteer involvement.
- Knowledge of and commitment to equal opportunities and inclusion.
- Demonstrable experience of building positive relationships with diverse individuals and organisations.
- Ability to prioritise effectively.
- Ability to work in a flexible and collaborative way as part of a team.
- Excellent organisation and IT skills.
- Experience using databases and Excel to store, analyse and report information.
- Experience using online tools e.g. Google Suite, Mailchimp, SurveyMonkey, Canva and WordPress.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of people.
- Effective communication skills: written, verbal and telephone.
