Fundraising ideas

If you would like to support the work we do through fundraising activities of your own, we would be very grateful.  It can be great fun; here are a few ideas to inspire you:

Shopping online
One really easy way to raise extra funds for us is to register with Give As You Live. Every time you shop online with any of over 4,000 retailers selling groceries, clothes, insurance, even holidays etc, a percentage is donated by the retailer to Home-Start Wandsworth, at no extra cost to you.
We are registered as HOME-START WANDSWORTH LIMITED. For every new shopper who raises at least £5, HSW will get an extra £5 for free.
You can install a donation reminder bar, which pops up for most websites you want to shop with and you just have to turn it on when prompted, but please note that for Amazon you have to remember to go through the Give As You Live website first.
Sign up and ask your friends, family and colleagues to do the same.
Cake sales – at school or work are a really fun and easy way to raise funds. Organise one at your school or work place.
Car boot sales – clear out all that junk and raise funds by selling it all at a car boot sale and donate to HSW. There is a local one in Battersea.
Churches – we have over the last few years received hugely generous support from churches in the borough, but are always looking for new churches to connect with. If you are a member of the local parish please let your church know about us and if they would like to support our work.
Schools and Nurseries: We have also been supported generously by local nurseries and schools over the past few years. Mouse-House for example very kindly supported us as their designated charity for over two years. We are always looking for more so please ask your school or nursery to nominate HSW to be your school or nursery’s nominated charity.
Coffee mornings, tea parties and dinner parties: We have been very successful at raising funds by friends of HSW holding coffee mornings, tea parties and dinner parties for their own network of friends. Host a party and let your friends know about the work we do. You can do extra things like raffles, guess the weight of the cake, sell second-hand books, home-made goods, cards, anything to make a bit of extra money on the day. It’s also really good fun.fe66a55e-24ad-47dd-bceb-0a021e5ea99a
Corporate giving – CSR is good for business, if you own a business or work for an organisation, ask them to think of us if they are raising money for charities as part of their CSR. Many organisations use the CSR for team-building opportunities. We have plenty of ideas to share if your organisation is interested. Or they can nominate us for Christmas donations (in lieu of cards), events, sponsorship opportunities or match-giving.
Gigs and concerts – are you in a band/choir/orchestra? Hold and event and give your door sales to HSW.
Sponsored challenges – if you or a relative or friend are doing a 5K or 10K run or a half or whole or even ultra marathon – anything really – please think of asking for sponsorship for HSW online sponsorship via BTMydonate. We also use VirginMoneyGiving but BT charges no fees. See the Runthrough website for some events to enter.
Shopping events – raise money by asking sellers to pay for a table and donate a percentage of sales; ask for donations on the door and sell raffle tickets. We also hold our own so please stay tuned for anymore coming up and come along with your friends.
We have gift aid envelopes for donations, we can also provide brochures and fundraising tins. Please contact us for more information.
