Family Hubs and half term fun

Families Gather

We have had a busy few months at our Family Hubs. Battersea Arts Centre’s Monday sessions continue, offering arts and crafts, English conversation and a variety of workshops from yoga, budgeting, reflexology and baby massage to child development.

One of our mothers told us that she now uses her newly acquired reflexology skills to massages her daughter’s feet before bed.

Our monthly homoeopathy consultations continue to be well attended and we are getting very positive feedback. “I’m grateful for the possibility of finding a form of pain relief different to what I have used before.”

One of Emma’s English conversation students has gone on to pass her Part 1 and is flying, accessing ESOL classes across the borough.

Our monthly Recipe Clubs are a great way to get together and share a coffee and some recipe ideas. The cookery team has excelled themselves and the office staff have benefited from the delicious leftovers!

We have had great feedback from our families and volunteers in our Hub Steering Groups and hope to implement new ideas into our schedules next term. We will keep you updated with our new projects.

 Trips out together

The October half term trip to Kew Gardens was a great success despite the drizzly conditions.

Jenny and Carey from the office took 13 mums and 13 children by train to Kew’s beautiful autumnal gardens and there were even a few summer roses left to cheer up the grey skies.

Feedback from the families included:

“Thank you so much Home-Start, we had a great time. The girls were really happy and came back knackered! So we had a really enjoyable day.”

“It was a great day. We did everything we could possibly do on the map.”
