Hello everyone, my name is Nia and I am so pleased to be the new Scheme Manager at Home-Start Wandsworth. I have a history with Home-Start, having been a co-ordinator at the Camden Scheme for 6 years, so I feel I have returned home. I’m also very familiar with the borough of Wandsworth, having worked for Family Action at 166 Roehampton Lane (now Eastwood Children’s Centre) for 3 years.
My background is in childcare although for the last 15 years I have worked in family support and volunteer management. My last role was as a parenting officer at Masbro Children’s Centre in Shepherds Bush. There I delivered parenting courses and trained parents to be volunteer facilitators.
I have two children: my daughter is 27 and my son is nearly 16. My passions are travelling, reading, American Football, Man U and I’m a diehard Trekkie. I volunteer as a health advisor for West Kensington Community Champions, am a weight management trainer and am one step away from being a Licensed FCA Financial Educator (phew…it sounds a lot when you see it in writing).
Back to Home-Start Wandsworth, the welcome has been amazing and I’m very much aware of the legacy that has been entrusted to me. This early on, I recognise the scheme has a committed and dedicated staff group and trustee board and I am equally committed to assisting in achieving the organisation’s goals. I hope to meet you soon, and will be travelling with Carey and Kelly to various groups in the upcoming months. I’m also excited to be assisting Kelly to deliver the volunteer prep course in September (which is still open to applications).
I work Monday to Friday and will always be happy to meet or chat with service users and supporters of the scheme so please call or come in and visit anytime.
